This Lead Surveyor Engineer position focuses on Section 5 of a major transportation initiative in Cairo, Egypt, requiring advanced expertise in surveying engineering, geospatial data management, and construction layout for railway and metro systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise survey teams executing topographic surveys, control network establishment, and as-built verification for transport infrastructure projects.
  • Manage geodetic control using GNSS/GPS, total stations, and precision leveling instruments to ensure millimeter-level accuracy.
  • Oversee construction staking for track alignment, station structures, tunnels, and viaducts in compliance with international railway standards.
  • Process and validate survey data using AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS platforms, and BIM coordination tools for integration into digital twin models.
  • Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, and construction contractors to resolve geometric discrepancies and maintain schedule adherence.
  • Prepare survey reports, method statements, and quality assurance documentation aligned with ISO 9001 and project-specific QA/QC plans.
  • Implement health, safety, and environment (HSE) protocols during field operations in active construction zones.

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying Engineering, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering with survey specialization.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in large-scale infrastructure surveying, including rail/metro projects.
  • Proven expertise with Leica/Trimble/Topcon robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, and UAV photogrammetry.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS/QGIS, and 12d Model or similar terrain modeling software.
  • Deep understanding of coordinate reference systems, map projections, geoid models, and transformation parameters for Egyptian survey grid.
  • Experience with BIM workflows, clash detection, and 4D scheduling integration.
  • Knowledge of EN 13848, UIC 719, and Egyptian Code for Railway Engineering track geometry tolerances.
