Baristas

Role Overview

We are seeking skilled Baristas to join our team in Kuwait. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee craftsmanship and delivering exceptional customer experiences in a fast-paced café environment. This role requires expertise in beverage preparation, equipment maintenance, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide variety of hot and cold coffee beverages including espresso drinks, pour-overs, cold brew, and specialty seasonal offerings
• Provide friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable customer service while educating guests on menu options and coffee origins
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area following health and safety standards
• Operate and maintain commercial espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and brewing equipment
• Manage inventory levels, restock supplies, and communicate ordering needs to management
• Handle cash transactions accurately and operate POS systems
• Adhere to recipe standards and portion control for consistency across all beverages
• Assist with opening and closing procedures including equipment calibration and deep cleaning
• Train new team members on beverage preparation techniques and service standards
• Monitor product quality and freshness, rotating stock according to FIFO principles

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Barista in a specialty coffee shop or high-volume café environment
• Proficiency in espresso extraction, milk steaming, and latte art techniques
• Strong knowledge of coffee beans, roast profiles, brewing methods, and flavor profiles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
• Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, holidays, and early mornings
• Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications

• SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) Barista Skills certification or equivalent training
• Experience with alternative brewing methods (AeroPress, Chemex, V60, Kalita Wave)
• Knowledge of coffee cupping and sensory evaluation
• Previous supervisory or shift lead experience
• Familiarity with café management software and inventory systems
• Multilingual abilities (Arabic and English preferred for Kuwait market)

Work Environment

This position operates in a dynamic café setting with exposure to heat, steam, and standing for extended periods. The role requires repetitive motions including tamping, steaming, and pouring. Team collaboration and adaptability are essential for success in this customer-facing hospitality role.
