Secondary English Teacher – British Curriculum School in Doha, Qatar
About the Role
An outstanding international school in Qatar is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Secondary English Teacher to join its academic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator to deliver high-quality English instruction within a British curriculum framework to secondary-level students in a supportive and multicultural learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons aligned with the British curriculum standards for secondary grade levels.
- Develop and implement schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment materials that meet curriculum objectives.
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking.
- Support students' literacy, reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication skills across all ability levels.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and department heads on cross-curricular initiatives and academic projects.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, and professional development programs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
- Integrate technology and modern teaching methodologies to enhance the learning experience.
- Uphold the school's policies on safeguarding, behavior, and pastoral care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, English Literature, Education, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level within a British or international school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the British curriculum (IGCSE, GCSE, or A-Level) and associated assessment frameworks.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective teaching practice.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural school community.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with differentiated instruction to support EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and learning management systems.
- Previous teaching experience in the Middle East or international schools.
- Additional language skills are an advantage.
