Primary Music Teacher | English National Curriculum – Music Education

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Primary Music Teacher to join our school in Qatar. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in the English National Curriculum for Music and a passion for delivering outstanding music education to primary-level students. This role requires a dedicated educator with excellent teaching references and the ability to inspire students through a comprehensive and engaging music program.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality music lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum for Music across primary grade levels.
• Develop students' musical skills including singing, instrumental performance, composition, improvisation, and music notation.
• Foster an appreciation of diverse musical genres, traditions, and cultures through a well-rounded curriculum.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual growth.
• Organize and lead extracurricular music activities such as choirs, ensembles, concerts, and school performances.
• Collaborate with fellow educators and school leadership to integrate music across broader learning areas.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and participation.
• Stay current with best practices in music pedagogy and curriculum development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field.
• Recognized teaching qualification or certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching music at the primary level within an international school setting.
• In-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum for Music and its assessment frameworks.
• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage students of varying abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Outstanding professional references demonstrating excellence in teaching.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in one or more musical instruments (preferably piano or guitar).
• Strong vocal ability and experience directing choirs or vocal groups.
• Knowledge of music theory, composition, and music technology tools.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for making music accessible and enjoyable for young learners.
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural educational environment.
