Manager E-Access
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Manager E-Access to lead and oversee the Library's electronic access functions. Reporting directly to the Distributed eLibrary Director, this pivotal role ensures seamless management of digital resources, acquisitions, cataloguing, and user access. As a key driver of the library's digital transformation, you will optimize e-resource accessibility and enhance the user experience for patrons across Qatar.
Core Responsibilities
- Electronic Access Management: Oversee the administration and maintenance of the library's electronic access systems, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted availability of digital collections.
- Collection Management: Develop, curate, and manage both print and electronic collections to meet the evolving needs of library users, aligning with institutional goals.
- Acquisitions: Manage the end-to-end acquisition process for print and electronic resources, including vendor negotiations, licensing, and procurement.
- Cataloguing: Supervise cataloguing operations to ensure accurate metadata creation, classification, and discoverability of all library materials.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of library professionals, fostering a collaborative environment focused on innovation and service excellence.
- User Support: Coordinate with IT and library staff to troubleshoot access issues, implement solutions, and improve digital resource delivery.
- Reporting & Analytics: Monitor usage statistics and generate reports to inform collection development decisions and demonstrate value to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in library electronic resource management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven expertise in e-resource access platforms, library management systems (LMS), and discovery tools.
- Strong knowledge of licensing agreements, copyright laws, and digital preservation standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with OpenURL resolvers, proxy servers, and authentication systems (e.g., EZproxy, Shibboleth).
- Familiarity with linked data and emerging technologies in library systems.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly Arabic and English, are highly valued.
