Level 2 Scaffolder | Offshore & Industrial Scaffolding | Qatar
About the Role
We are seeking a certified Level 2 Scaffolder to join our offshore operations in Qatar. This role involves the safe erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding structures in demanding offshore environments. The ideal candidate holds a valid CISRS Level 2 card (or equivalent international certification) and has proven experience working on oil & gas, petrochemical, or marine construction projects. You will work as part of a disciplined scaffold gang, adhering to strict HSE standards, permit-to-work systems, and project schedules.
Core Responsibilities
- Scaffold Erection & Dismantling: Safely erect, alter, and dismantle tube & fitting and system scaffolding (e.g., Cuplok, Kwikstage, Layher) for access, support, and shoring applications offshore.
- Worksite Preparation: Inspect and prepare work areas, verify ground conditions, set base plates, sole boards, and ensure proper foundations before scaffold assembly.
- Inspection & Tagging: Conduct pre-use visual inspections, maintain scaffold tags (Green/Red), and report defects immediately to the Scaffold Supervisor.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all HSE procedures, including working at height regulations, confined space entry, PPE requirements, and permit-to-work (PTW) systems. Participate in daily toolbox talks and JSA/JHA reviews.
- Material Handling: Manage scaffold material inventory on-site, including loading/offloading, stacking, and ensuring components are serviceable and certified.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Scaffold Supervisors, Riggers, Inspectors, and other trades to ensure scaffolds are delivered on schedule and meet design specifications.
- Emergency Response: Understand and execute emergency descent and rescue procedures for scaffold-related incidents.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Valid CISRS Level 2 Scaffolder Card (or recognized equivalent such as SAIA, TUV, or national certification accepted in Qatar).
- Offshore Survival: Valid BOSIET / FOET with CA-EBS (OPITO approved) or equivalent offshore survival certification.
- Medical Fitness: Current offshore medical certificate (OGUK / Qatar Petroleum approved).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years scaffolding experience, with at least 1 year in offshore / oil & gas environments in the GCC region.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficient in reading scaffold drawings, TG20:13 / NASC guidance, and manufacturer erection manuals for system scaffolds.
- Language: Functional English (verbal & written) for safety communication and documentation.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced Scaffold Inspection certification (CISRS Advanced Inspection or equivalent).
- Experience with specialized scaffolds: hanging scaffolds, cantilever scaffolds, birdcages, pavement gantries, and temporary roofs.
- Familiarity with Qatar Petroleum / Qatargas / Shell / TotalEnergies HSE standards and permit systems.
- Valid H2S Awareness / H2S Rescue certification.
- Rigger / Banksman / Slinger signaller certification (OPITO or equivalent).
- Previous experience on shutdown / turnaround (STO) projects in Qatar.
